The Baylor Department of Public Health Faculty has a wide range of specialty areas but shares a common focus on population health and equity. The available majors for on-campus MPH students include:
MPH in Community Health Science
Baylor University's Master of Public Health (MPH) in Community Health Science equips students to promote population health in a wide range of public health settings. Our strong, practice-based approach, global health opportunities, and low faculty-student ratios provide our students with a quality learning experience that can enhance career development. The Community Health Science curriculum includes the core Public Health courses and additional courses on assessment, planning, evaluation, and research methods in community and public health. Our students are trained in competencies aligned with those of the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), preparing them well for the CHES examination and employment opportunities in a variety of global community health agencies.

MPH in Environmental Health Science
Environmental Health Science deals with human health effects of exposure to chemical, physical, and biological agents in the community, workplace, and/or home. This includes active involvement in preventing, controlling, and managing disease outbreaks and enabling society to function before, during, and after a disaster. Professionals, researchers, and academics in environmental health work in government, the private sector, non-profits, and the military. Our strong, practice-based approach, global environmental health opportunities, and low faculty-student ratios provide our students with a quality learning experience to enhance career development in a core public health field and area of national workforce need.

MPH in Epidemiology
Epidemiology is the study of the occurrence, distribution, and determinants of health and disease in human populations. Students who focus on epidemiology are interested in how disease and health are distributed among groups of people. The Epidemiology curriculum includes the core Public Health courses and additional courses on study design methodology, the science of measurement, population statistics, health-related data management, and applied data analysis.
