Jordan Lewis

Jordan Lewis graduated from the first MPH in Epidemiology cohort from the Department of Public Health in 2021. During her last semester of graduate school, she began working part-time as a Clinical Research Assistant at the Warriors Research Institute within Baylor Scott & White Health. In this role, she assisted with participant screening and scheduling for multiple studies, performed data entry and data management, coordinated IRBs for multiple studies, and authored and edited many scientific manuscripts. After a year in this position, she applied for and was promoted to Program Manager. In this role, she manages multiple federal grants, writes and submits grant proposals, creates extensive databases, writes syntax, and runs data analyses, among many other responsibilities. Jordan’s favorite part of working at the Warriors Research Institute is the highly collaborative nature of the team. She has worked with Clinical Psychologists, Epidemiologists, firefighters, union representatives, university professors from a variety of departments, and many more.

Jordan is in the process of applying to graduate school (again!) with the hopes of completing a PhD in Public Health Sciences working under a well-known Epidemiologist. Upon admission, she will hopefully begin research on optimizing physical activity during pregnancy. Jordan’s time in the MPH program at Baylor University shaped every aspect of her professional career. She continues to touch base with former professors and mentors as well as refers to notes from classes very regularly. Her biggest piece of advice to current MPH students is to not be afraid to pursue your passions. The field of Public Health is huge and there is so much that needs to be done. This program will equip you for your future career in Public Health!
