  • Bachelor's degree or higher with any major from an accredited university
  • The most successful applicants submit a GRE score over 300 and are in the 50th percentile or higher for individual verbal and quantitative scores.
  • Minimum GRE writing score of 4.0 preferred

I am an international student. Are there special requirements?

Click here to learn about requirements and services.

We strongly encourage international applicants to submit their SOPHAS application no later than April 15 to guarantee your application will be reviewed for admission for the upcoming fall semester. International applicants may still expect their applications to be reviewed after April 15, however a recommendation of deferment to the following fall semester may be made.

How do I apply to the program?

Program entry begins in the fall semester. We only accept program applications via the SOPHAS application system. You will be required to submit a personal statement, reference letters, official transcripts, and official GRE scores. The application process is a two-step process: SOPHAS and Baylor. After your SOPHAS application is completed and verified, and you meet the minimum admission requirements, you will be contacted by the Baylor Graduate Office to complete the Baylor portion of the application process. The application system opens mid-August with a December 15th deadline. See Admissions for more details.

How much does it cost to apply?

The SOPHAS application starts at $150 and increases depending on how many universities you select. The Baylor application is $50. Fees cannot be waived.

Are financial aid, scholarships, or assistantships available?

Yes, financial aid information can be found here. The Department of Public Health offers Graduate Student Employee (assistantship) positions and academic scholarships for qualified and selected applicants. International students are also eligible for these. See Assistantship for further details and how to apply.

Can I attend part-time?

No, the on-campus program is designed as a full-time residential program. If your are interested in our fully online MPH program with part-time and full-time options, please contact Dr. Jasmine Opusunju. You can also find information about the online program here.

Do your graduates find jobs within the Public Health field?

Yes, many of our MPH graduates work for public or private public health organizations after graduating from our program. Others choose to continue their education by enrolling in a specific doctoral, medical, or allied health program.

Are there research opportunities for graduate students?

Yes, our Public Health faculty members are highly engaged in research and often invite the MPH students to work with them on various projects. Click here to learn more about our faculty.

Are there opportunities to engage in global research or global health experiences?

Yes, many of our Public Health faculty members work in international settings such as Rwanda, Dominican Republic, Ghana, and Guatemala. We offer several study abroad or international practicums as part of our program. You can find information about one of these initiatives, Global Health in Africa here.

What classes would I be expected to complete as part of the program?

We offer three concentrations in our MPH program: Community Health Science, Epidemiology, and Environmental Health Science. Each degree path is a 42-43 credit hour degree. All students, regardless of concentration, complete MPH foundational courses along with courses specific to their concentration. Concentration-specific information can be found here.

How much does the MPH program at Baylor cost?

The cost varies by year. Scholarships may be available. For more information about scholarship opportunities, please contact Marie_Murray@baylor.edu. For information about tuition rates and other fees at Baylor, click here.
